About Us

With a focus on play-based education, we understand that children learn best when they are having fun.

Our Story

How Our Journey Started

Welcome to our vibrant Waldorf community: An immersion into creativity, curiosity, and a mural of experiential experiences. We endeavour to create a joyful learning environment where each child’s innate curiosity will flourish. From our beginnings as a mother-daughter homeschooling initiative (2013), and fusion with a Waldorf homeschool (2022), we have grown into a nurturing warm community that celebrates each child’s unique journey. We believe the Waldorf curriculum responds to the challenges of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Embracing the Waldorf curriculum allows us to provide an education that is not only engaging but also deeply rooted in the natural rhythms of life. At Jasiri Souls, we believe in cultivating a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Our dedicated teachers are committed to nurturing the individual gifts of each child, encouraging them to explore their interests and passions.

We strive to create a supportive community where children feel safe to express themselves, collaborate, and grow. Together, we are raising a generation of conscious, creative thinkers who are equipped to navigate the complexities of our rapidly changing world. We aspire to co-create a warm community of individuals who live powerful and purposeful lives. We invite you to join us in this journey of discovery and transformation. Welcome to Jasiri Souls School, where education is a joyful adventure! Blessings!

core values

JASIRI SCHOOL VALUES

Curiosity

In Waldorf education, curiosity is nurtured as a natural and essential aspect of learning. We therefore endeavour to foster a genuine sense of wonder and inquiry at Jasiri, which is crucial for lifelong learning. This curiosity is not just about accumulating facts but about developing a profound sense of connection to the world. In our school, students are encouraged to explore and question their surroundings through hands-on experiences, storytelling, and exploration of nature. Teachers often use imaginative and experiential methods to ignite students’ interest and help them develop a love for learning that is driven by their own innate curiosity.

Community

As Jasiri Souls community, we believe in the importance of social and emotional development. We achieve this through the creation of a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students, teachers, and parents work together harmoniously. The sense of community is fostered through collaborative projects, shared festivals, and the development of strong, empathetic relationships. This communal approach not only enhances individual growth but also helps students develop a sense of responsibility and connectedness to others. By participating in a close-knit community, students learn to value cooperation, respect, and mutual support.

Creativity

Creativity is at the heart of Waldorf education. At Jasiri, we emphasize that creativity should permeate every aspect of the curriculum, from arts and crafts to problem-solving and scientific inquiry. In our Waldorf inspired classrooms, students engage in a variety of artistic activities such as painting, woodwork, handwork and music, which are integrated with academic subjects. This approach helps students to express their individuality and think outside the box. The creative process is seen as a way to develop a deeper understanding of concepts and to build confidence in one’s own abilities. By encouraging imaginative thinking and personal expression, we aim to cultivate students who can approach challenges with originality and resourcefulness.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking in Waldorf education is developed through a balanced approach that combines analytical skills with creative problem-solving. With this in mind, we advocate for an education that encourages students to question, reflect, and analyze rather than passively absorb information. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students to think deeply and make connections between different areas of knowledge. This is achieved through interdisciplinary learning, where subjects are interwoven in a way that stimulates intellectual curiosity and critical reflection. Students are encouraged to explore different perspectives, engage in meaningful discussions, and develop their own reasoned judgments.

Holistic Learning

Holistic learning is a foundational concept in Waldorf education where our goal is to educate the whole child – mind, heart, and hands. This approach recognizes that cognitive development is intertwined with emotional and physical growth. Our curriculum is designed to engage students in a variety of ways, including academic, artistic, and practical activities. The aim is to nurture a well-rounded individual who is not only knowledgeable but also emotionally resilient and physically capable. Holistic learning also involves creating an environment that supports the development of moral and ethical values, helping students to grow into compassionate and responsible individuals.

our logo

Jaisri is a Kiswahili word meaning Brave. ‘Jasiri souls’ literally refers to all of us: Children, Teachers, Parents – the whole community. We are all ‘Jasiri Souls’ in this grand great universe, always learning, growing, and discovering things. At Jasiri Souls, we hope each individual is constantly taking great strides in unfolding their potential, becoming better versions of themselves, and fulfilling their unique purpose.
‘There is no heavier burden than an unfulfilled potential.’ Charles Schulz
Jasiri Souls Logo is a fusion of the two founding schools’ logos: A puzzle piece and a tree.
A simple puzzle piece, basic for the little child to recognize and deeply profound for the adult to contemplate. The puzzle piece is a daily reminder and affirmation of our uniqueness and individuality. We all are part of one universal jigsaw that gets complete when all pieces come together and take their respective positions. No puzzle piece is too small or too important. We all have a space that no one else can take.

‘It is beneath human dignity to lose one’s individuality and become a mere cog in the machine.’ Mahatma Ghandi The tree represents the community. Without community we are nothing. It truly takes a village to raise a child. The base of our tree is a three-fold embrace between the parents and child. The Waldorf curriculum has a three-fold essence by developing the Head (Academic), the Heart (Emotions), and the Hands (Physical). The same three-fold pattern unfolds in developing the child’s Thinking, Feeling, and Will. We all have our place and are all needed. We are all different and through this diversity, we thrive.

Parents Reviews

Jasiri has been a real home away from home for our son; in less than a year he’s grown so much in confidence and curiosity. Teacher Mary and Teacher Catherine treat him with such love and consideration to his unique personality - I feel such peace leaving him in their care. I also very much appreciate the intentional community engagement; the nanny courses provided help to bridge the gap between school and home.

We choose Jasiri Souls because of its smallness that allows every child to have a lot of attention and love. Teachers are very loving and patient with kids, allowing them to grow and progress at their own pace. The yard is beautiful, equipped with everything a child needs to have fun and develop its skills. One feels always welcome at Jasiri. Our daughter loves to go there and has found a lot of friends. And a big bonus is the strong connection between the parents and the school.
